Paddle the Canals: Mohawk River Adventure

Paddle the scenic Mohawk River/Erie Canal on this halfday guided adventure.
Travel through a historic lock, along the edge of Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve, and beneath the iconic Twin Bridges. Drop off your boat at Lock E7, park at finish line, and board the free shuttle back to the launch. After your trip, relax and refuel with lunch at the Colonie Town Park Riverview Pavilion.

Distance: 7 miles
Registration: $75, Children 6 and under: Free; Children 6-12: $40, all registrations include lunch. This is a fundraiser for the NYS Canalway Water Trail.
Cancellations within 30 days of the event will not be eligible for a refund. We will consider your fee a donation.

Typically seen from the speed of a car on the Adirondack Northway I87, we'll paddle under "The Twins", also known as the Thaddeus Kosciusko Bridge.
Itinerary
7am - 8:45am: Check in and boat drop off at Lock E7 Park, Lock 7 Road, Niskayuna. Check in with Erie Canalway staff. Shuttle runs from parking lots at start and finish (see below for logistics)
8:45am: Check-in and safety review at Lock E7 Park Launch
9am: Launch from Lock E7 Park
9am - 1pm: Paddle 7 miles on the Mohawk River/Erie Canal to Colonie Town Park, Latham
1pm: Lunch at the Riverview Pavilion, Colonie Town Park, Latham
We require you to wear a PFD during the event to ensure everyone's safety.
Logistics
Complimentary shuttles will be available from Colonie Town Park to the launch at Lock E7. Shuttles begin at 7am and will continue until 8:45am. Shuttle services will not be available at the end of the paddle.
If you plan to use shuttle services:
1. Arrive at Lock E7 Park and drop off your boat and gear.
2. Drive to the take-out. Parking is available at Colonie Town Park. Carpooling is encouraged.
3. Ride the shuttle back to the launch site.
4. Check-in at the registration table and prepare to paddle.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not permitted.
If you are renting from Upstate Kayak Rentals, go directly to Colonie Town Park, park and board the shuttle.
Life jackets are required while on the water. No exceptions. Event is limited to 250 registrants.
