Get Involved: Grants and Funding
Turning great ideas and plans into reality requires funds to get the job done. The Erie Canalway offers references for grant opportunities and limited funding for projects that help to achieve the goals set forth in our Preservation and Management Plan.

Professional studies may include: building conditions surveys, engineering/structural analyses, feasibility/reuse studies and specialized building conservation studies. Preparation of architectural plans and specifications are not eligible.
Grant amounts will not exceed $3,000 and the total cost of the applicant’s project may not exceed $3,500. Each applicant must provide $500 toward the total project cost.

Six innovative education and preservation projects will get off the ground in 2015 with funding support from Erie Canalway Grants. We awarded $30,000 in grants, which will be matched by an additional $330,128 in private and public project funding raised by grant recipients.
This is a competitive grant program which makes awards ranging from $2,000 to $7,000. The grants fund projects that serve to advance the goals and strategies of the Erie Canalway Preservation and Management Plan. Awards must be matched dollar for dollar.
